Sports, Pt. 1.
hi.
Mavericks - 14-6 (well, 14-7 now after losing to Jerry Sloans chance at 1000 win's, in Utah. OF COURSE the Jazz would win)
- this team is good. this team will make the playoffs. this team, right now, could easily lose in the first round. i know its early, but i'm seeing the Same, Stupid, Mistakes in every game...e.v.e.r.y. game = no effort at correcting SSM's. the one that's the most beating on me? down by 6 or more, in the 2nd half, big defensive block/steal/stop, chance at a 2 on 1, but noooo.. Mav bringing the ball downcourt stops and pops for a 3. instead of the instant 2 or free-throws. yeah, when the 3ball hits, its great. but when it doesnt, it's not just bad. it's real, real REAL SSM bad. harvey keitel in Point of No Return bad. which leads me to....
- enough with the 3's. remember, we're done with Nellie-ball around these parts. buckner, george, stack -- DEFENSive players, should not have anywhere NEAR 10 combined attempts at the 3ball in a single game. hell, diop almost took a 3pointer this season (to avoid a violation, but still). like tonight... 3-20 3PA. the only reason there should be that many attempts is if the other team is leaving dirk or jet WIDE open over and over again, and thats not happening.
- i thought this teams off-season player subtractions and additions kinda cancelled each other out, or at the very least made the Mav's a little better (no KVH = better team). i was wrong. if stack doesnt become more of a vocal leader on the floor, bench, huddle, practice, EVERYWHERE, this team will not make it deep in the playoffs. this team needs some vet to take control. (yeah, im missing DA. huge belated props to him for last year.) want a ring Stack? time to be head cheerleader.
-quick hit: not digging Mo Ager. maybe he just doesnt feel comfortable in his passing skills......but dude, quit hogging garbage time. worst idea for a drinking game: every time Ager passes the ball, take a drink.
-attention Mavericks--- when you are on the court, and you are not up by at least 30 points, DO NOT run a play intended for Diop. i dont care if its Avery's drawn up play....use common sense. Diop goes straight-up panic attack when he gets a pass, if he even 'gets' it at all. good blocker, ok rebounder, bad everything else. (ok, prolly good guy)
-so, anthony johnson and austin croshere can only contribute in a game if you bench them the game before? that's how this works? this is a deep team?
-again, 14-7, not bad, and still early. but if they're gonna win the division, they're gonna have to start pulling away from the Spurs by early Feb. yes, this team just had a 12game winning streak, they also had a 4game skid. this team could easily win or lose 5 in a row at any point......that's some no good big bad news, yo.
-predictions: six games into Dec., Mav's are 3-3. here's hoping they go 10-6 this month (prove me wrong! beat PHX for 11-5!) and start to roll. im gonna give this team too much credit cause im a homer and say they should finish the season at 55-27. i'll see if i can try to stick with that...
