Sports, Pt. 2.
Cowboys - 9-7 - @ Seattle, Sat. Jan. 6th, 7pm - NFC Wild-Card Game
- first, let me say that football coverage really beats me down. i enjoy watching the football GAME, i just don't get the need for 3 hours of pregame...AND postgame! add the actual game into the mix...that's over 9 hours of coverage, just for the regular season games. am i to expect "bonus" coverage for playoffs? not that i watch all this, but apparently a lot of people do. that's just beyond me (especially spending so much time covering a team that has not won...i'll type it again.....HAS NOT WON a playoff game in a decade). that just floors me. now,
- two 9-7 teams, and from what little i've heard, the majority see an easy Seahawk victory, cause the Cowboys are sinking....fast. just like they were at the beginning of the season, until, you remember, everyone believed they were the best team in the NFC, SuperBowl-Bound. now they're bad again, in case you haven't heard. they lost to the Lions, giving up 39pts to a 3-13 team. they lost their final three home games. this team is going to just hand the game to the Seahawks........right?
- i mean, Seattle's got a better record (wait....), they won their last couple home games (hmm, lost to both SanFran and San Diego, oops..) they have GOT to have a more dominating defense than the Cowboys, right?? (oohh, they give up 21.3pts/gm to Dallas' 21.9). ummm...OH! they're playing AT Seattle! SCOREBOARD!
(oh jeez...Dallas has a 5-3 season record on the road, and they are on a 3 road-game winning streak. Seattle has a 5-3 season record at home, and they are on a 2 home-game losing streak.) still a cakewalk for the 'Hawks?????
- what i'm trying to say is that i won't be surprised if the Cowboys win or lose. i'm actually glad the Lions won on Sunday...call me crazy but i think Dallas has a better shot winning at Seattle than at home against the Giants. that's right! being a loyal local sports fan for many years, i have come to the conclusion that when a Big Game comes around, if it's 'at home', the greater the chance for a Loss. it sucks, but its true. so, i'll take an "on-the-road" Big Game (plus, if its a loss, you can always say, "well, [insert other teams name] was at home, so....")
-prediction: Dallas wins. the defense will get at least 2 int's/fumble recov's. Witten's due a big game, this should be it. although, im basing this victory on Dallas not giving up on the running game by the 2nd Qtr, cause if that happens again, chances of a Cowboy win drop to 30%. but they wont make that mistake, again...right? right?
Final Score - Dallas 27, Seattle - 16

****quick update from Sports, Pt. 1. i thought the Mavs having a 10-6 record in Dec. would be great...wellll, since that post, they've decided to show strong-bones and capture their SECOND double-digit winning streak of the season. insane. 13-3 in Dec., without their '6th man' for most of that. Thank you, Little General****
